米国以上に苦情が殺到しているのが日本だ。東京・永田町の在日メキシコ大使館には、２９日早朝から終末論が外れたことに憤る市民十数人が押しかけた。釘バットを持って大使館にやってきたある男性（２０）は「昨日で世界が終わると聞いたので、やけくそで両方のまゆ毛を剃って、髪型までモヒカンに変えたのにどうしてくれる」と怒りを隠せない。しかしメキシコ大使館に来たところで何の解決にもならないと悟ったらしく、男性は近くのドラッグストアでアイブロウを買うと自宅に戻っていった。
